Just thinking...

Okay, so it's about 12:45 am. I'm just sitting here watching Sports Center and thinking about all of the things that I've done today.

We're having a Missions Conference next weekend at church. Saturday night, after the 5 pm service, we are having an International Supper. All day I have been thinking about what I could possibly make. (Jeremy wants to take a bunch of tacos from Taco Bell.) After I was tired of thinking about food, I figured I had better make some decorations to help make the Fellowship Hall look a little more festive. I spent an hour and a half on one Chinese lantern! Being the perfectionist that I am, I got a little frustrated! So, I went outside to rake leaves.

Rake leaves?! Yes, it is finally "fall" in Florida (the seasons are out of order here). We are needing to plant our garden soon and I needed to rake the leaves out of it and do some weeding. I finally finished that around 6:30, shortly after Jeremy got back from work.

Jeremy went to a men's Bible study tonight and while he was gone, I went to visit a lady from our church who lives behind us (she and her husband own our house :o). We had a great time just chatting and drinking coffee. When our husbands got back from the Bible study, they asked us what we did all night. "We solved the worlds problems, " she said. A little while later, Jeremy and I went with them to Steak 'n Shake for a late night snack. We enjoy spending time with them so much!

So, now I sit here and think about how blessed I am that I was able to accomplish so much today. I know there are some people out there who don't have as much as I do or aren't even able to get up and walk. God has given me so much and I just want to thank Him. It will be nice to see the "fruits of our labor" when our garden is finished. I will try to get a picture or two on here for all of you to see.

Forgive me if there are any errors in this post. I'm soooo tired!

Spring is in the air!

I am sitting at home with the windows open and I smell the sweet savor of Spring! It's days like these that remind me of God's glorious creation and I am so happy that I am alive to enjoy it! Even though Spring hasn't officially came according to the calendar, it is definitely showing in Clearwater, FL. Some of the trees still don't have their leaves yet but you can still tell that the warmer weather is upon us. It started sometime a couple of weeks ago. Jeremy and I were getting ready to go somewhere and I noticed that some of our lilies had bloomed. I always get so excited when I see them for the first time! My only hope is that the rest of my flowers will wake up soon to join them.

Lost at Sea

The search continues for two NFL players and one former USF  football player off Florida's Gulf Coast. Corey Smith, Marquis Cooper, Will Bleakley, and Nick Schuyler (also a former USF football player) went fishing Saturday evening during a high surf advisory. Their boat capsized and, so far, only Nick Schuyler has been found. To read more about this, please click on the title above.

A little information about this day in history...

In 1815- Napoleon Bonaparte escaped from exile on the island of Elba.

In 1870- A 312-ft long pneumatic subway was opened in New York City; funding for a larger version never materialized.

In 1901- Leaders of the Boxer Uprising in China, Chi-hsui and Hsu Cheng-yu, were beheaded.

In 1919- Grand Canyon National Park was established.

In 1935- RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) was first demonstrated by Robert Watson-Watt.

In 1993- A bomb exploded at the World Trade Center in New York. The blast killed six people and injured more than 1,000.  The man who paid the terrorists to set the bomb off was the same man who planned the attacks on 9/11. The government is trying to give him his rights to the constitution. (Is this justice or stupidity?)

I Shall Know Him!

One of my all time favorite hymn writers is Fanny Crosby. She is the blind American poetess of more than 8,000 sacred hymns. Fanny Crosby wrote on a great variety of many subjects but the themes of heaven and the return of Christ seem to have been her favorites. At the age of eight, she wrote these words:

Oh, what a happy soul am I!
Although I cannot see,
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be.

How many blessings I enjoy
That other people don't;
To weep and sigh because I'm blind,
I cannot, and I won't.

Once she was talking with a Scottish minister and he remarked to her, "I think it is a great pity that the Master, when He showered so many gifts upon you, did not give you sight." Without hesitation, she rebuked, "Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition to my Creator, it would have been that I should be born blind?" "Why?" asked the surprised clergyman. "Because, when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior." Later, Crosby penned the words to one of my favorite hymns:

My Savior First of All

When my life work is ended, and I cross the swelling tide,
When the bright and glorious morning I shall see;
I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,
And His smile will be the first to welcome me.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand,
I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nails in His hand.

Oh, the soul thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face,
And the luster of His kindly beaming eye;
How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love and grace,
That prepare for me a mansion in the sky.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand,
I Shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nails in His hand.

Oh, the dear ones in glory, how they beckon me to come,
And our parting at the river I recall;
To the sweet vales of Eden they will sing my welcome home;
But I long to meet my Saviour first of all.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand,
I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nails in His hand.

Through the gates to the city in a robe of spotless white,
He will lead me where no tears will ever fall;
In the glad song of ages I shall mingle with delight;
But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand,
I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nails in His hand.
